I spoke with some ppl at local electricity providers and they told me that they actually have certain preparation plans for pandemia cases to provide electricity for the public as long as possible. <br /><br />A) nuclear power plants are programmed to shut down automatically if not operated and supplied over a certain period of time. So if nothing goes wrong, they aren't as dangerous as one might think (apart from all that radioactive substances remainins in a rotting building).<br /><br />B) what would almost certainly go offline quite early are electricity plants that are fed with coal. They need constant supply of fresh coal to keep up their work and as many plants only store supplies for a small amount of time, a break in the constant delivery chain will close these plants down in the very first row.
